Thanks to all who helped me learn.
Today I realize that there were ideas all around me the whole time. This is because of what I learned in this class. I now know that assessment is not only a test discussed as a game but also a is discussion, reflections, and any form of sharing of information.
I have now included Discussion Boards, WIKIs, and Blogs to my classes where before I felt these were only items that could be used for fun. Now I know that through the information shared here I can not only see how students are applying learning but I can measure it.
In addition, I appreciate all the persons who asked questions, and offered suggestions to my posts on discussion forms. Because of those replies I have another viewpoint and have given assignments deeper thought.

Week 7
In addition, I also liked that I attached the camtasia recordings that showed you what the assessment looks like live. The reason I did that with camtasia is because it was created in company web site that I am unable to link to the Internet. In addition, it would be unethical for me to publish the material publicly since my company is paying me to create it only for their company.
Overall I enjoyed seeing the examples I find that this is the best way for me to move forward when I get stuck and I was stuck. (A Good Model)

Week 6 Reflection
The first assignment for this week was particularly exiting because I have created surveys in the past for pre and post assessments of knowledge. It was nice to view the different free sites available. however I found that what I use at work offers the same thing and is easier to incorporate into my class sites through share point.
Lastly this class kinda came together for me today. I think I always knew what tools I could use, I just never made the connection that the tools were ways to asses learning. I really felt like I needed more tests and the discussions and reflections were too easy for students to be assessments, Today I asses more with open ended questions and reflections then I ever did the day this class began. And I am confident that I know what the learners have gained from my classes.

Week 5 Reflection
I particularly enjoyed this because it retests my knowledge of the Taxonomy that I have learned many times over.
I also enjoyed hearing others concerns for applying this case study to online training. Others felt that in certain portions of the training would not easily transfer to Online training while I feel that there was no portion of the case study that couldn’t be transferred. Although some areas were not as easy as others there is always a way to transfer each portion of the training including all levels of assessment? As long as the company you work for provides the technology and the space.

Review the course objectives and activities from the Casey course. Then decide which objectives and activities belong in which ‘Bloom’ category. This type of analysis will help you, not only develop your course assessment plans, but will also help you decide which assessment activities are most valuable.
This website provides a simple explanation of Bloom’s categories:
http://www.coun.uvic.ca/learn/program/hndouts/bloom.html
Bloom categories
Learning objective verbs
Activity
Knowledge
(recall, list, define, identify, collect, label)
Identify
1. Identify 2 examples of censorship that are revealed in the article
2.
Comprehension
(summarize, describe interpret, predict, discuss)
What is….
1. According to the author, what is the “liberal bias notion”?
Application
(apply, demonstrate, illustrate, classify, experiment, discover)
List (or Go find this type of media) As you should in daily life.
1. List three situations that show that the conservative media is controlling the
written and broadcast news. Why is this a problem for America?
Analysis
(analyze, classify, connect, explain, infer)
Not so many words but here it asks to classify if Deficient then say why.
1. According to the author, the Democrats lost the Presidential election in 2004 because of an “information deficit” in our society. What is an information deficit
and how did it occur?
Synthesis
(combine, integrate, plan, create, design, formulate)
Asking them to be the reporter in this situation by asking Do you?
1. Do
you run the photograph? Why or why not? (3)
Evaluation
(assess, recommend, convince, compare, conclude, summarize)
Asking their opinion by saying Do you agree. Then explaining your analysis.
1. Do you agree with David Brock’s assertion that false and wrong information is
really a significant problem for democracy? Explain.
I felt that all of these activities and requirements could be done online. Including application. However, I feel that a instructor does not always need to asses at all levels. I think that assessment should be a case by case basis. Example: 1st graders probably need the knowledge - application levels where college students should be able to think at all higher levels and should be assed accordingly.

Week 4 Midterm
As far as the team assessment goes I have to admit I am a little disappointed, in myself and a little in my teammates. It would have been nice if every participant could have used a collaboration tool that was presented. I attempted to take a lead at this by creating a WIKI in hopes that others would have wanted to use another collaboration tool. I realize more now that it would have been better to ask each group member to pick a collaboration tool to use rather than assume that they would take my very suttle hint.
In addition, I did set up two WIKIs and it is Saturday and they have not used it yet. However, I am optimistic that it will be used Sunday when Eric collaborates our work. I am a little disappointed in that if it was working that they didn't ask the instructor for assistance.
In the end, the responsibility lies with me. And if I have another group assignment I will present the idea with the team immediately and be mor forthright with my goals for the assignment.

Module 2 Journaling (Assessment in E-Learning)
I do have a few questions about how we are going to utilize blogging.
How are we going to create the collaborative learning environment (Small groups, or class groups)
How are we going to locate each other. Is the discussion board the only way to do this? If there was no discussion board what would the alternative be?
How are you able to evaluate our use? Do we have to give you access or do you automatically have access to blogs because you are apart of each type of blog. Do you find it difficult to manage each bog if you had an account?

Partner Interview of Linnea Dolan

I started the E-Learning certificate because I learned that I had a talent in web design and a passion for teaching and this seemed like a great opportunity in this technology driven world. Not only that but this class also will count towards my master’s degree and any step closer is something that I defiantly want.
From this class I want to learn how to gauge my student’s success without actually observing face to face. And I hope to apply this knowledge to the training program that I built at work that is 50% online which the company has never seen before.
One thing that you may never guess about me is that I recently got my husband his first dog which was a Saint Bernard puppy. And it was the best decision that I ever made and she makes us laugh and enjoy life more than I ever expected a dog could do. And she, my husband and family is something that I would never want to give up.

Final Posting
When I was developing this new outlook, I many times researched many dead ends or things that did not contribute to the subject I wanted to learn. Nevertheless, for every five resources that did not contribute I found 1 that did contribute and appealed to my style of learning. The same was true when deciding what training module to apply a new technique to.
I enjoyed:
Using the new Bloom’s Taxonomy
PBL
Questioning techniques
Web Quest
The Rule Brick
Big 6
One thing that I would change about the class is to gear it towards training as well as a classroom. Currently my work is trying to go all web based for training thus me taking the class. Many times, I was asked to evaluate my classroom or school. In addition, technically I do not have one and not all questions applied to my training program.
Through out this class I learned about many of the difficulties teachers face daily. I also learned many ways to organize and implement projects to learners. Through this course, I have built my online library to include new resources that I have already used in my professional career. This course also required that I analyze training modules that I have created. Through these analyses, I have not only seen the modules from a new light but also added and enhanced the modules. Because of these enhancements, I have been praised at work several times.

Delivering the NCAA Final Four Basket Ball Floor on Time
Delivering the NCAA Final Four Basket Ball Floor on Time
Introduction
As you know, Roehl Transportation delivers the NCAA Final Four Basketball floor. This requires a driver to pick up the floor from one location of the Final Four Tour to another location of the Final Four Tour. 2 years ago, there was a snowstorm that delayed this delivery causing the Final Four to be played on a high school basketball court, this was a preventable incidence. Roehl Transportation has guaranteed that this will not happen again and if it does has agreed to pay the NCAA 1 Million dollars if it does (making this a very hot load).
You (a Driver Service Representative) have just found that one of your newest drivers has been given this hot load. Since this driver is so new, you need to lay a clear plan that will ensure that your driver can deliver the floor each time, on time.
This trip is a live load and unload, the shipper’s location in Marshfield, WI and the consignee will be Jacksonville, FL. The floor needs to be delivered by May 1 at 8:00am central time; your driver will not be available until April 26 at 10:00pm central time.
Procedure
Use the information learned in the familiarization course to decide if your driver is capable of delivering each load on time and make sure to prove your conclusion through a Trip Plan that considers the following. .

• Does your trip plan include fueling?
• Does your trip plan include when and where to rest for the 10 hour break?
• Does your trip plan include time to load and unload the trailer?
• Have you checked the weather and road conditions for possible delays?

Pros and cons of Wikified Research Paper
http://arapahoe.littletonpublicschools.net/Portals/7/Language%20Arts/Smith/Wikified%20Research%20Paper.doc
Pros:
The learner will be able to use the newest technology to prove a point.
Learners will have a clear plan of how to create this thesis paper.
Learners will not be constrained by the traditional printed research paper.
Learners are directed how to save the outside resources
Learners are given clear instructions of how to evaluate their own paper (using a higher level of learning)
Cons:
Learners may feel that this has many time consuming steps leading to a large time constraint
Student could easily create papers that lack individuality due to the level of detail in the directions. The facilitator will need to take prior steps to ensuring learners will have individually.
Facilitators will need to evaluate at a higher level because the description is so detailed. (Ok maybe this could be a pro)

Google seemed to find the most information about the topics I was searching. In addition, many times Google sent me to my personal favorite web site http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov.
I enjoy this web site because it is produced by the FMCSA, which is an acronym for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. This administration is what governs the trucking industry. We give all drivers a pocket book that lists all of their regulations. Unfortunaly, the wording is very difficult for a person without a law degree to understand. Therefore, when the actual source translates its own material I find it most useful.

Bloom and Big6
What relationships, if any, do you see between Bloom’s Taxonomy and the Big6™ Model?
The largest relationship that I see with Blooms Taxonomy and the Big6™ Model is the last two steps in Big6™ Model.
Bloom had identified the need to use the highest levels in learning, to give students a deeper understanding. I feel that this also means that this information will also move into the working memory or even become automatic. However, notice that blooms taxonomy is a pyramid with the higher levels at the top and to get their you need to use the lower levels too.
The Big6™ Model also has this present in the last two steps, I do not at all think that his a coincidence, because to get to these levels you need to step up to it and both of these models do exactly this; working up to the highest levels of learning.

Module 4, Reaction
I can see now how I focused in on the Learning adventure and left out all the rest, luckily my trainers have been picking up the slack and doing most of this without my instruction. However, without me creating this I can see how I have failed my team and the learners. Luckily, I have time to revamp, and a forgiving team.
So, if I didn’t say already I plan to implement this immediately, and I expect that the trainers and learners will have less difficulty interpreting my expectations and will learn to think critically (and have a clearer incite to what they will be experiencing in the workplace) using the PBL I created.
The discrepant event I feel is the perfect tool to use when there is change in the industry or company. I find that when there is the slightest change many fear or even resent it. Using a discrepant event would be the greatest way to redirect the issue through the persons having the fear or resentment. This way they can evaluate why this changed occur. I will use this when I start my new training program or when the new system becomes a requirement.

Anytown
I feel that my school is best at community involvement as well as collaborate with community based groups. We meet with owners and Operators of local business to decide the future needs of the program. The school is closely involved with related groups (National Restaurant Association, American Culinary Federation). The school has also created community based groups for the learners to participate in and run.
But I do feel that the school needs to be less fearful of encouraging creativity and innovation, for the sake of covering the basics. But I also think that this is somthing that all programs strugle with regularly.

1. What do you think the critical factors are in making progress in this area of learning and teaching?
The most critical factor is Community, Content Providers, and businesses. I feel that the 21st century businesses need to work together with the with the education system. To create the content of learning, which should build 21st century skills, and have evaluations like the businesses of the 21st century business. This should happen at all levels of learning. This way the learners and educators can have a clear end result to work toward.
2. What barriers exist to moving ahead?
The biggest barrier to moving ahead, will be the lack of interest from the 21st century businesses in the education system. I see many businesses looking for graduates in job fairs at universities. But I rarely see businesses working with the education system to create the employees that the business will later recruit.
Today’s business will need to see how their involvement in the education systems will better their business in a measurable way. Without seeing the measurable result, I don’t think that businesses will participate fully. When that measurable result is clearly developed I think that the community will involve itself more with the education systems it surrounds.
3. What support will learners and teachers need to achieve progress?
I feel that the education system as a whole needs constant communication with the businesses of its community. Not just a friendly visit from time to time but regular monthly (if not weekly) meetings discussing how the business operates in every function. Then the school system needs to be given the flexibility from the government to use the methods thought up in these meetings. So, to sum up what support the learners and teachers need……Government, and local businesses or community.
4. What practices or structures need to be changed?
I feel that the two things that need changing most is the dependence on short term memory, and evaluation techniques. When I was in high school and in some of collage, I was told to memorize words, functions, and formulas. After I memorized these things I was then tested by given an abundance of questions that would need the use of these things I memorized. Many times I passed the tests with flying colors. But now I need a reference point to remember how to use those things I memorized. I don’t feel that this was the best way for me to learn or be evaluated.
I feel that we instructors should demonstrate where to find the information, demonstrate ways to use it, then give the learners practical situations built from the community so solve. After the situation has been solved the learners should be evaluated like businesses in the community evaluate their employees.
